EMS NQ is a local Townsville-based business established by experienced Vessel Master and Marine Engine Driver Neil Wilkinson in 2025. In addition to more than 30 years experience as a sea farer, Neil has qualifications in recreational marine surveying from the Australian Institute of Marine Surveyors.
Neil is also a vessel owner himself and understands the needs of boat owners and the challenges that can be faced in their operation and maintenance.
Prepurchase and Valuations
Our pre‑purchase surveys provide a detailed assessment of the vessel’s condition, identifying structural, mechanical and safety issues, as well as likely future maintenance requirements. We also offer valuation services to support purchase negotiations, refinancing or asset reporting. Our comprehensive reports are clear, practical and focused on helping you understand both the risks and the opportunities associated with the vessel.
Insurance
We provide independent insurance surveys that meet the requirements of leading marine insurers. These inspections assess the vessel’s overall condition, seaworthiness and safety equipment, ensuring compliance with policy conditions.
Our reports are prepared with both the owner and the insurer in mind, providing straightforward, evidence‑based findings to support new policies, renewals or variations.
Sea Trials
Sea trials provide invaluable insight into how a vessel performs under real operating conditions. We attend sea trials to assess engine performance, steering behaviour, onboard systems and overall vessel handling.
Where appropriate, sea trials are combined with pre‑purchase or condition surveys to provide a complete understanding of the vessel both at rest and underway.
Damage Assessments
In the event of an incident or suspected damage, we offer prompt and professional damage assessments. Our role is to determine the extent and cause of damage, identify any underlying issues, and provide clear recommendations for repair.
We work independently and objectively, supporting owners, insurers and repairers with accurate and transparent reporting.
Maintenance Plans
Ongoing maintenance is key to preserving vessel value and ensuring reliability at sea. We prepare tailored maintenance plans that outline recommended inspection schedules, servicing requirements and priority works.
Specialising in powered motor boats, our approach is practical and realistic, helping owners plan and budget for maintenance while reducing the risk of unexpected failures.
Vessel Caretaking and Deliveries
We offer vessel caretaking and delivery services for owners who require support managing their vessel. This includes routine checks, coordination of maintenance, and ensuring the vessel remains safe and ready for use.
We also undertake vessel deliveries, ensuring safe and efficient relocation with experienced oversight and attention to care throughout the journey.
